Dear Sirs,
We are the Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library from Ruse, Bulgaria.
The Library is one of the main depositaries of the written national production and an archive of the local press.
The Ruse library is organizing an International Competition for Exlibris for the eighth time. The theme this year is ”Ex Libris – Ex History” and gives to all participants an opportunity to show, by the means of the exlibris art, their very own perspective towards the history.
The aim of the organizers of the competition is to commemorate an
anniversary of events by the uniqueness of ex libris – a sign of possession, a connection among the book, collective memory and intangible cultural heritage, a connection between the book and its imaginary owner, a sign of relation among writer, book, reader, time and space. Editions of the contest showed how rich and varied the human imagination and identity may be, even restricted within a theme.
Regional Library started an annual International Exlibris Competition in 2005. In the seven contests have been involved over 300 artists from different graphic schools from 50 countries. 1 400 items are in the Ruse Library collection today.
